In fact, most of the people passing by Siem Reap are coming to visit the temples and their average stay usually doesn’t exceed more than 3 nights. Why? Because most of them doesn’t have an idea of everything that could be done in Siem Reap!
At Mulberry Boutique Hotel, we try to propose you a large panel of activities and Tours that could be done within your stay. Of course, this is your holidays so relaxing is the priority, and temples hopping can be very exhausting ! Have a look at things that can be done below, after that, we are certain that you will re-consider your 2-3 nights that you are planning in Siem Reap:
-
The Floating Villages
At approximately 40km in the South of Siem Reap, the Tonle Sap Lake is the biggest lake of South East Asia. A lot of cambodians are living there, mostly from fishing in the lake and selling it afterwards. Visiting any of them (Chhong Kneas, Kompong Phluk or Kompong Kleang) is a real insight of how people made their lifes on high-floored wooden houses (levels of the Lake are changing following the seasons). it is advised to visit those only during the green season.
-
The Silk Farm
The major material for which is worked out and where cambodians are quite expert is the silk. They are doing all kinds of homemade clothes, scarfs and anything else, using precision built wooden machines. This work is usually done by women from the countryside. It takes a lot of hours of work and patience in order to make a small piece of silk.
Artisans d’Angkor propose visits to their Silk Farm in the countryside in order to discover this art.
-
Discover the Countryside
Not so far from the Siem Reap city center, the countryside offers sceneries of the real Cambodia. Wooden Houses, Lotus flowers farms, and very welcoming local people. If you feel like it, they will welcome you to their house and share their dinner with an immense pleasure! They are usually poor people, and their kids are learning the way of working from their parents. Bring books, pens, fruits with you and you will be granted with the sweetest smiles you will ever see.
-
The further Places (Phnom Kulen, Beng Melea/Preah Vihear etc…)
If you are not afraid by doing some kilometers by car, we also can propose you to go to other areas worth visiting such as Phnom Kulen. Over there, you will find the life of villages in the mountain, a magnificent Temple built long decades ago with a gigantic laying Buddha, the waterfalls and much more. A must for the ones that want to see something only proposed there.
