It is that time of the year again… hohoho

From all of us at the Mulberry Family, we would like to wholeheartedly wish you a Happy Khmer New Year !! For all our khmer brothers and sisters, it the occasion to spend time with their families, wishing the health to everyone, pray for the New Year coming… But also Siem Reap and the Angkor Wat Archeological Park are the best place to celebrate it in Cambodia !!

It is also the only time of the year that all the Temples are accessible to foreigners and expats free of charge. Foreigners are most welcomed to celebrate there with all the Khmer People.

12th of April:

  1. 7:45 am – Blessing Ceremony (Boung Soung)

13th of April:

  1. 8:00 am – Opening Ceremony
  2. 6:30 pm – Khmer Classical Dance “Ancestral Heritage”

14th of April:

  1. 9:12 am – Reception of the Arrival of the New Year Tevada
  2. 5:00 pm – Angkor Sankranta Friendship Tug of War (Teanh Proat)
  3. 6:00 pm – Floating Lanterns Ceremony
  4. 7:00 pm – Khmer Classical Theater (Lakhon) “Maha Vessantara Jakata”

15th of April:

  1. 9:00 am – Visiting Pagoda and Sand Mounding Ceremony
  2. 4:00 pm – Angkor Sankranta Parade “Monikodom”
  3. 6:30 pm – Khmer Classical Theater (Lakhon) “Angkor’s Wonders”

16th of April:

  1. 8:00 am – Angkor Sankranta Chess Championship Final
  2. 10:00 am – Wet Zone Highlight
  3. 11:00 am – Awarding Ceremony: “Selfie Competition”
  4. 1:12 pm – Bathing of Buddha Statue Ceremony (Srang Preah)
  5. 3:30 pm – Oxcart/Buffalo Racing at Road 60 / Angkor Kyung Yu
  6. 6:30 pm – Angkor Sankranta Concert “Celebrating Ancestral Heritage”

As you can see in the Program for the three days, many events will take place at the Angkor Archeological Park, mostly organized by Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia. Traditional culture program, art shows, traditional dances… Plenty of events are organized and it is expected that Siem Reap will welcome 1.6millions attendants this year.

Try to be at the events as early as possible ! There will be plenty of traffic jams all over Siem Reap but joining this Event is an UNMISSABLE !
